"The Perfect Sunrise Session Doesn't Exis-" - oh wait...
As a traveling documentary photographer based in Nashville, TN, my favorite place to photograph is are the mountains. Which is ironic because the nearest mountains to Nashville are four hours away. I guess that's why I travel! in late May/Early June I found myself in Oregon preparing to photograph a beautiful wedding in Sisters. However, I did happen to have a spare week (definitely a planned vacay) in the Mt. Hood National Forest before my wedding.
This forest and Mt. Hood are just absolutely Pinterest worthy so I knew I HAD to book a session or two in the area. Enter: Taylor & Devin. I met these two through a Facebook group I was advertising in and immediately knew I wanted to work with them! They were down not only for a sunrise session (5 AM) but also a TWO. MILE. HIKE. Talk about dedicated to the bit...
The hike was more uphill that I had initially planned for, especially since we were headed to a lake. It took us about 1.5 hours to make the hike (yes, I was out of shape lol). Once we got there, I knew it was worth the hike.
A stunning sunrise was peaking up from behind Mt.Hood (see above photo), the waters were calm, and the air had a bit of a crisp to it (which felt really nice after the hike). After Taylor & Devin switched from hiking gear to engagement gear, we got started. The trail leads a big circle around the lake, which we followed most of. Along the way, we were met with mud, sunken bridges, and even more mud. Think the adventure we had along the way is what made this session so special. I really love that Taylor embraced the mud with her heels and then made the switch to her bright pink sneakers - it's what really tells the story of our morning.
